Activities
Task 1
- Choose any multimedia tools from the list (tutorials can be found lower in this page):
Google Slides is the best one since you already have a Google account. It is very similar to PPT. Here is a video tutorial.
Prezi is still free for teachers, use this link to get a free account. Use your school email to register. They have their own tutorial accessible from within Prezi.
Animoto - As a teacher you can apply for a free promo code and create long fancy presentations. The code is valid half a year and then you can reapply. A tutorial.
Youtube
Adobe Spark
Sway (by microsoft) post a comment to this one to test, if you like
- Explore one of the tools (either on your own or with a friend)
- Test it!
Task 2
- If you chose photo tools create a short photo slideshow presentation
- If you chose video tools create a short video story presentation
Task 3
- Once you are done and your presentations are ready to go, embed your presentations in your blog, wiki or website, then post the links to the Google Classroom (Participants' Creations spreadsheet, Week 3 - Column D).
- You can also SHARE the link to your creation here (Slides will allow you to see what your session mates have done)
Task 4
- Read this week's readings (at the bottom of this page) and post comments on the readings in our Google Classroom It's not enough to say you read the articles, you need to reflect on them. You do not need to comment on all of them, just the ones you find relevant.
- Explore the possibilities of Classroom Screen, it will help you with any activities you do in your classroom. See for yourselves in a short video about it and try it out in your classroom, it is great indeed.
Tools to explore
Picture Tools and Presentation Software
|
Flickr |
This is an online photo management and sharing application. |
Slideshare
|
Software enabling easy uploading of your presentations and documents online. Only the public version is free, to have private uploads you need to pay. |
PhotoPeach |
An easy tool for creating video-like slideshows from photos. We still recommend Photo Peach as it is a great tool, yet sadly it cannot be shared any longer, you can only present from it in your classroom when logged in your account. You can create quizzes with photos here. More about quizzes in week 4. |
Animoto |
Another tool for creating video-like slideshows from your photos. Teachers - apply for a free Animoto plus account and get unlimited longer videos.
|
Prezi |
A very modern presentation software, you can use template layout as a starting point. With more practice you can design your own templates. Videos can be embedded here. Free version for teachers. |
Powtoon |
Only the basic version is free, there is only 100MB storage, but you can use it only occasionally and impress your students with something completely different. |
ToonDoo |
A nice tool for creating cartoons. |
Video Tools
|
Youtube |
You can record your own videos for free. Publish as "unlisted" if you want to keep them (relatively) private.
